Jay-Z and West on the Throne?

So i've just stopped for a second listening to "Watch the Throne by Jay-Z and Kanye West" and.. I don't mind it personally.

This album comes out in Australia right after West headlined Splendour in the Grass at Woodford late July.
And with his hype that he brings with his new albums, West has delivered along with Jay-Z another great futuristic production project. The beats and production in this album is amazing! When you listen to the lyrics, which base on a huge loving and greatness of the two rapper's, the beats and layers of sounds amaze you, especially listening to it with a good sound system.

Another thing i noticed in this album that besides great samples of Otis Redding in track 4 "Otis" is that Kanye West and Jay-Z only used Queen B and new talent Frank Ocean. Beyonce say no more but using Frank Ocean twice showed trust and he has an awesome voice behind great music.

Some people might think that these two rappers don't sound or go good together but I'm going to beg the differ and after listening to tracks such as "Gotta Have it" and "Welcome to the Jungle" that there call and response technics are solid and thats great editing and chemistry i think because as a listener it's made a picture in my mind that their actually together rapping live!

So overall i rate this album as another great project from Kanye West and Jay-Z

i Give it a 3.5 out of 5

Nicki Minaj - Pink Friday

When I first heard this whole album it came across very electronic and computer musicish!
I give big up's to Nick Minaj though! I think she's very talented. A great singer and rapper with a mean flow!
There are not too many women doing what she is doing and I don't mind it and I rate her the best female hip-hop artist out there at the moment. Her awards show that and how many artists can get Eminem, Kanye West and Will.i.am to feature on there first album?

This album has a few hits with her first single being 'Your Love'. A great chilled beat with Nicki showing her rapping and singing skills in a very stylish way. The video clip even featuring Michael Jai White as her love interest is also kinda cool!

Nicki uses auto-tune also in a few songs but mostly in 'Check it Out' which was produced by Will.i.am. I didn't mind this effect because we are so used to it with Will.i.am and with the sample of 'Video Killed the Radio Star' by The Buggles it was pulled off in a dance club hit fashion.

This album has some good Rap/Hip-Hop production with some very dirty, rough beats but also some nice chilled out electronic music! have a listen to 'Did It On'em', 'Moment 4 Life (feat. Drake)' and even 'Blazin (feat. Kanye West)'. All these songs also I believe have some RnB characteristics.

Overall, I hadn't heard much of Nicki Minaj before this album but a great start to her career and I reckon she has a lot of skill and will generate many fans from Pink Friday. She is an artist who seems very versatile in the fact that she can rap and sing and I believe you will be hearing a lot of Nicki Minaj on the radio in the future!!

I gave Pink Friday 3 out of 5 stars!

Kanye West make it seem Yeezy!!

So this is my first posted review on my blog!!

Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

Before this album came out I viewed Kanye West's 30 min, or so, film called Runaway which featured songs from his new album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. This film was written, directed by Kanye West and obviously he did the music. After watching this short-film I was immediately blown away from the imagery and concepts of what Kanye West was creating. The songs suited the mood of each scene emphasising more on the production skills that Kanye West has and new ideas he could bring out in his music. A lot of people i'm sure saw this film as a big WTF! but this is Kanye West and he is not afraid to pull off new ideas that would catch viewers out of there comfort zone. Though back to the album!

I hadn't heard the full mastered songs and when we had a sneak peak from the short-film 'Runaway' and an inside into what artists were featuring I couldn't wait.

I thought this album was brilliant! Kanye West had a big hand in the production of all tracks and that just shows the many talents Mr. West possess's. This album after listening from start to finish has pushed the boundaries of future American Hip-Hop to something new and never heard before. Examples of long tracks with solo's and interludes, mixes of choirs and hip-hop-thugish beats and guest apperances from Jay-Z, Bon Iver through to Chris Rock showed how much effort and time was put in.

My immediate favourite songs has been a lot of the album but stand outs have been 'Dark Fantasy' and 'Lost in the World'. With the usual Kanye metaphors, similes and risky lyrics each song brings out a feeling and mood. These themes have a connection and even though they may be pushed with explicit lyrics, it leaves the listener in excitement.

Hip-Hop today is being developed and pushed forward more with artists exploring new ideas through technology and Kanye West hasn't worried about trying something different. Kanye West has pulled off another great album from his collection and I think a lot of people will agree with me that this could be close to album of the year.

I gave it 4.5 out of 5!
